Since its inception, Reynolds Family Winery has taken the mustard flower as its emblem. Mustard grows wild here in Napa Valley so it’s easy to take for granted. But for our client it’s more than a plant, it’s a symbol of faith and a metaphor for the value of hard work
When Reynolds came to us for a rebranding of their business, we were inspired by the parable of the mustard seed (Luke 13:18-19) – that from small things, big things grow. This proverb has never been more true than it is of this humble winery.
The design team at Swig seized on this symbol and rendered it on the labels with an 18th century field drawing. Because botanical illustration, like winemaking, requires the interpretive skill of an artist and the technical focus of a scientist.
